Love Perseveres Ch.10

Chapter 10
Our Night Together

"That was so cute! I love how such a rebel can come to love such an opposite girl." Stephanie squealed. We had just finished watching A Walk To Remember, which is her favorite movie, she just doesn't want to admit it yet.

"Yeah it's amazing how that can happen. Hey babe it's 5:30, I bet if we leave now we can hit the beach right when it gets dark."
"Wait I thought it closes at 6?"
"No not the one we are going to. My dad has a beach house and he says that we can use it to get on the beach whenever we want to."
"Yes! That's awesome!"
"Alright no need to get too excited now, just wait until you see it at night. It's beautiful."
"I really hope you can meet him too, he is amazing. He totally supports me too. I talk to him a lot, but my mom never knows."
"Aww, baby I'm happy for you! I wish you could just go live with him."
"Yeah me too, and I will still go to our school anyway. I might just leave one day, and bring you with me."
"That would be so liberating. I would be in pure bliss; to be away from my mom and to be with you all the time."
"Yeah, well let's go because I want to catch him while he is still home. He works night shifts."

We went out to my truck, and started off on the drive to my dad's beach house. Steph had actually never been to that part of town before, so I drove a little slower than normal. It was the historic district so there were monuments, old building, expensive houses, cute little shop, and things of the sort.

"Hey babe?" Steph said.
"Yeah?"
"Can we come here one Saturday night? Just to walk around together and get away from the town? It seems romantic."
"Absolutely! Whatever you want to do gorgeous."

At that point I turned into my dad's neighborhood, and Steph couldn't stop staring at the huge houses. I couldn't blame her; after all, all of the people here including my dad were rich beyond belief. My dad only worked to maintain his sanity. As she was staring, we drove down to Horizon Terrace, my dad's street, and pulled in to the second house on the left.

"Hey babe?" Stephanie asked.
"Hm?"
"Thank you." As Stephanie said this she put up her hand, gesturing to my open mouth that I close it until she was done telling me what she wanted me to hear.
"Thank you for everything you have done for me ever since we met. Thank you for protecting me no matter what. Thank you for not holding back. Thank you for trusting me, and listening to me when I am down. Thank you for keeping my trust. Thank you for accepting me for who I am, all the time. Most of all, thank you for loving me. Your love is the one thing that inspires me to realize that there will be a happy future without my mother involved. It is the fire that keeps me going. YOU are the one person that makes me truly happy. I love you so much Jesse, and I wanted you to know that I will always be there for you, and I will always love you with everything I am."

By this time she had her hand holding the side of my face, and the look of love in her eyes was entrancing me and carrying me to another world. They always do. I leaned in to kiss her, pulling her into the middle seat and wrapping my arms around her. Our kiss was gentle, soft, and slow, with our lips perfectly in sync with one another. In between a kiss and the next, I whispered "I am in love with you Stephanie, and I promise I always will be." Then we continued kissing for what seemed to be eternity. We were blocked out from the world, in our own little realm.

"um, Jess, WHAT are you doing?"
